The member deals section of websites is often underutilized. A few simple steps can turn your member deals page from a ghost town to a valuable member benefit.
Make Member Deals Easy
Your members only have so much time to dedicate towards advertising their businesses. There are many places online vying for their attention like Yelp!, Facebook, and Adwords. So, your members don’t have time to figure out a complicated deals section.
Make creating deals intuitive and include directions for members that are less used to technology. A video that takes them through creating deals step by step would work best. The video below is a great example. It is less than a minute and walks your members through creating a deal.
Create Member Deals on Your Time
One way to make it easy for your members to create deals is to work with them on the deals. Have a volunteer at events with a computer helping members to create deals. This way they are spending time they already had dedicated to your organization on the deal.
As people create their member deals and talk about it to other members at the event it will create more excitement for them. Towards the end of the event you can announce the deals created to give your members more publicity and generate more buzz for the deals.
Promote Your Member Deals
When your members invest the time to create deals you should promote them. Highlight new deals in your newsletter and share them through social media. If you have a good relationship with another organization you can ask them to put your deals page on their website.
Member deals should be easy to find on your website and visitors to your website should be able to search the deals. Encourage members to use pictures as a visually pleasing page will encourage people to spend more time on it and use more of the deals. Make sure the website visitors can also find deals in the member’s profiles.
Encourage your board, employees and volunteers to be aware of current deals. That way when they are talking to members they can recommend appropriate deals. For example, if a member mentions they are having trouble with social media you can let them know of the member business that is offering a free social media consultation. This would be a great benefit to both members!
