MembershipWorks customers who use Stripe or Authorize.net for their payment gateway now have the option to allow members to charge event tickets to their credit card on file, so they can easily register for an event without having to fill out their credit card information. Note that:
- The member must be signed in to their account.
- The member must be setup on auto-recurring credit card billing for their account membership.
- Event payment gateway must be set to “Default”.
The setting to enable payment by card on file can be enabled for each event under Advanced Registration Options on the event’s Advanced tab. For the setting you may choose one of the following options:
- Do not allow
- Allow primary account user only
- Allow all account contacts
Before enabling payment by card on file for event registrations, it is important to consider whether your members could be accessing your event registration page through public or shared computers where allowing payments to be charged to a card on file may be a security risk. In addition if you choose to “Allow all account contacts,” any secondary contact on the account may use the primary contact’s card on file to charge the transaction, so do consider if this would be desirable behavior for your members.
