Member Recurring Billing Improvements for Authorize.net

If you are using Authorize.net to process recurring billing, these new features will improve your membership revenue and member management:

  • Auto Retry – if a member's scheduled recurring billing payment fails, MembershipWorks will retry payments 2 more times within 1 week for a total of 3 attempts. If a payment cannot be successfully processed after 3 attempts the recurring billing for the member will be cancelled.
  • Move Renewal Date – you can adjust the member's next payment date by editing the Next Renewal Date entry on the Timeline.
  • Change Billing Period – you can switch a member to a membership level or billing option with a different billing schedule on the Membership Billing tab of the account without having to re-enter the member's credit card information.

Note that Customer Information Manager (CIM) must be enabled with your Authorize.net account to utilize these new features. To determine if CIM is enabled, login to your Authorize.net account and go to the Tools tab. Click on Customer Information Manager on the left menu. If CIM is not enabled you will see a form with a link to sign up for CIM. Click on the link and follow the prompts accordingly to enable CIM.
