MembershipWorks is proud to announce our new Job Board Plugin for Wix. Wix is a popular website builder, but unfortunately it doesn’t have a built in job board feature. You can easily add a job bank to your Wix website without knowing any code.
Why do You Need a Wix Job Board?
Your Wix website can become a hub for career opportunities by adding a job board. Online job boards can help your organization earn money and make your website more “sticky” for visitors who return to look for new opportunities or post jobs.
How a job bank can help your business or nonprofit organization:
- Earn money. Monetize your job board by charging a fee to post jobs. In the current economic climate, employers are looking for more opportunities to reach candidates.
- Streamline processes. If you have been manually posting jobs using another tool, an automation tool like the MembershipWorks job board enables employers to add, edit, and remove listings themselves.
- Explore additional revenue streams. Having a job board feature that functions as part of a Wix membership plugin enables potential revenue streams by requiring a paid membership to view or post jobs.
- Retain members. A membership-based organization with a job bank is more attractive to members.
Wix Job Board Features
There is not a huge list of job board apps that work with Wix, and Wix doesn’t provide one. The apps that are available can vary widely in their feature set, so it’s a good idea to explore your options. Learn more about the MembershipWorks Job Board for Wix.
Easily customizable
Although the job board app is pre-built with common job-related fields, administrators can easily customize, add, and remove fields. For example, a trade association may seek to create tags related to the specific types of credentials or certifications that reflect their specific industry. These tags can help employers identify the required credentials and can also help job seekers quickly find the jobs that they are most qualified for.
Responsive design for mobile
It’s critical that a job bank can be easily navigated on phones as the majority of website visitors will be using mobile devices. MembershipWorks jobs board for Wix scales appropriately to the size of the device being used. That means job seekers won’t have to scroll left and right or zoom in and out to read a job posting. The employer dashboard, job listings, and the administrative interface can each be viewed on a full range of screen sizes.
No coding skills required
You shouldn’t have to hire a developer to add a job board to your website, and thankfully MembershipWorks provides snippets for easy installation. No coding is required; the skills needed include adding pages to your website and copying and pasting. MembershipWorks is compatible with both Wix Editor X and the prior Wix page builder. You will need at least three pages on your site dedicated to your job bank. The snippets will generate the content for these pages:
- Job listings page for job seekers to view
- An employer jobs board submission form
- Listings management page with login for employers
What Makes a Wix Jobs Board Special?
While some job boards only offer job board-related features, MembershipWorks’ jobs board also provides built-in membership software for Wix. The integration with membership features enables the additional ways to generate revenue and also creates member value for member-based organizations. See a sample job board on Wix.
No limit on the number of postings for employers
Featuring a larger number of job listings attracts job seekers as well as employers. Given that you want to show an impressive list when you launch your job board, consider allowing employers to post unlimited jobs for free in the beginning. Once you have a good number of jobs, reach out to prospective job applicants so that employers see results from their postings. Once employers start seeing interest in their listings from job seekers, you can consider charging to post. You can generate revenue in a number of ways. Aside from charging for the listings themselves, you could consider offering a job board membership to employers where they pay a fee and can enter unlimited postings.
Job listings that disclose salary, job title, and required skills
Information-rich job postings are of a much greater interest to job hunters than thin postings. The MembershipWorks job board includes fields for salary range, job title, requirements, and more right out of the box. Employers that disclose this information save time by discouraging unqualified applicants or those with higher salary demands. It also doesn’t hurt to ask for information about company culture in the job description. For example, some candidates may not be looking for a “highly competitive sales environment” while others may thrive in that scenario.
Identify jobs that are in person or remote
With remote work becoming more popular since the start of the pandemic, it’s a good idea to differentiate jobs that have that option. HR staff can forget to disclose important information like this when copying and pasting information into a job post. Job board admins can include a field to identify remote positions, office only positions and partial work-from-home opportunities to encourage employers to indicate the job location.
How to Add a Job Board to a Wix Website
Adding the MembershipWorks job board to a Wix website is simple. The default settings of the job board help you get started quickly, but you can customize it during setup or later. Follow these steps:
- Set up an account with MembershipWorks.
- If you plan to collect funds online, enter your payment gateway information in MembershipWorks > Organization Settings. This step is required if you are taking payments for job listings and/or memberships.
- Optionally create membership levels (set prices, set billing options, system emails, etc.) in Labels & Membership and add the membership sign-up snippet to a page on your site. This step is applicable if you are requiring membership to view and/or post job board listings.
- Create a job board under Jobs/Other Boards.
- Add the job bank snippets to the three pages on your site (snippets can be found under your job board’s Dashboard within the Embed tab).
- Add a member manage account snippet to another page if you require membership to access the job board. Members will be able to login and use this page to manage their membership and edit their profile.
You can optionally customize the job board plugin by adding, editing, and removing fields. Admins can also create tags to classify jobs. Finally, you can edit the system emails that are sent instead of using the default messages.
Wix Job Board App
As Wix doesn’t have a job board feature, using a job board app is a good workaround to add this functionality to your website. Not all job board plugins are created equal, so research the features that each plugin offers. Great job-board solutions include:
- Listings management – Employers may want to go back to edit or remove their listings without asking administration to take care of it.
- Job categorization – Job hunters appreciate categorized job listings so that they don’t have to scroll through all of the listings to find the ones that interest them. For example, you could categorize jobs by: industry, location, job title, or other factors.
- Monetization – Make money either by charging employers a listing fee and/or by restricting the ability to see listings to only paid members. Consider the downsides with both choices; you may have less job postings or fewer eyeballs on your job listings.
- Field customization – While it’s nice to have a job bank that’s ready to go “out of the box,” some organizations will want to be able to add fields that pertain to their industry.
- Admin screening – To maintain high quality listings on your board, you can enable an approval process where admins screen listings before they are posted. Admins should be able to add, edit, and remove listings.
- Stats for employers – Recruiters love being able to see how many views and clicks their listings have.
- Automatic expiration – Job applicants can feel discouraged from applying when they see old listings. To avoid this, admins can set job posts to automatically expire after a certain number of days.
- Accounting system integration – With MembershipWorks you can export transactions related to the job bank to Quickbooks or Xero.
- Card on file payment – Employers who are frequent job bank posters will save time with the ability to charge their card on file for each job listing (this feature is only available for organizations using Stripe or Authorize.net as their payment gateway). This ease of use may encourage them to post jobs more often.
- Design – Look for job boards with the ability to have a responsive design on Weebly. See a sample Weebly job board.
- Support – Often plugins do not come with support, or when support is available it can take an extended period of time to get an answer. The MembershipWorks Job Board plugin offers unlimited free support by phone, email, and live screen share training.
- Stability and security – When you use a plugin like MembershipWorks, your job bank data is safely stored and managed for you. This can give you more peace of mind, especially if the job bank is a mission-critical source of revenue or an important member benefit.
- Secondary admins – The primary admin can decide to grant access to the back end of the job board to additional administrators. This can help delegate tasks like job board post approval. These secondary admins can have more restricted access to only see parts of the system without having access to other controls or to be able to edit other parts of the website.
